Love the amount of space in the refrigerator! I wish the freezer had a bit more. I really like the door alarm as the door doesn't swing shut easily. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the ice maker is REALLY LOUD!! I don't understand it. It must be the pump used to draw the water into the fridge (it's the same hookup I had prior) but I can hear it throughout my house. It sounds like something's broken. It clicks, then knocks, then the sound of the water filling.

The configuration is excellent with the freezer on the bottom although the best arrangement would be a side-by-side. The capacity is excellent particularly with the added storage space on the door. The internal shelving would be a little better if they could be adjusted. Efficiency and temperature are excellent. BUT, there were no instructions in the manual about where to find the temperature setting buttons, particularly for the freezer but also for the refrigerator (slightly easier. The biggest issue is that it is very difficult to open the refrigerator and freezer doors.

For much of every day, the freezer fan makes a high-pitched whistling or hooting sound, like "hooo... hoooo. hooooooooo... hoo... hoo... hooooo," which travels throughout the house. The manual says this is normal because today's refrigerators sound different from older models. I doubt other brands make this particular noise. Other online reviews report the same problem, though it doesn't seem to happen with every unit. I wish I had kept my older GE Profile fridge, which was quiet. I would have returned this new refrigerator but we missed the 48-hour return window, so now we are stuck with this sound for years. A GE technician came and cleaned and lubricated the freezer, but the sound resumed almost as soon as he left. Some user reviews mention this sound. Some users say they have learned to live with it. If I lived in a noisy place, or had music playing in the house 24/7, it would be less noticeable. The freezer has frosted over three times in the first five weeks of ownership, which the tech said was probably because the door didn't fully close. We have been careful about closing it all the way. Ice on the metal tracks for the sliding door might have contributed to the problem. This refrigerator/freezer cannot be turned off except by unplugging it. We set the refrigerator temperature for 37 but my thermometer inside says 32 or 33. I noticed that some leftover bulgar froze.

Loud motor and door failure

High pitched whiny noise when motor runs. I hear it throughout my house. The fridge door does not close on its own. I complained about this within days of purchase as well as the damage the installers created when they switched the door swing. They replaced the gasket to the door but it still doesn™€™t shut on its own. They replaced the motor but it still sounds the same. I wish I never bought it. I gave it one star due to the fridge space.

It™€™s fine and it works. It™€™s noisy for a brand new fridge and the door opens all the way and then slowly comes back. The door has to be pushed shut or it will stay cracked. The suction doesn™€™t automatically close it. The freezer is clunky with the compartments that don™€™t fit a frozen pizza. Annoying.

Delivery people had already left, read the manual to find out what it was. Not happy for that reason. Feel there is nothing we can do. We feel this is louder than it should be. This refrigerator was purchased 11/2022. The compressor has gone out on it (during the holidays) and for the price to replace it - I might as well purchase a whole new refrigerator. Of course, it is outside of it's one year warranty. Clearly made a poor decision when I decided to move from the Maytag/Kenmore version to GE. Will be reaching out to customer service when they are available to see if they want to assist with the purchase of new fridge before I go back to their competitors. So DISAPPOINTED!

GE High Pitch Whine

Until the whine coming from the freezer is fixed I can™€™t rate this unit any higher. Ear plugs don't help due to the pitch of the whine which requires I leave the room and go upstairs or outside. The control box located on top of the unit vs. inside doesn™€™t allow me to open the cupboards above. This feature would be better moved inside so when measurements are taken they will be accurate. Parts have been ordered and I™€™m hoping it will correct the problem. My work-arouond behavior to accommodate the whine is not sustainable.

This is the third time I've purchased a complete set of GE kitchen appliances. The stainless steel model is lovely. However when the condenser for the fridge/freezer turns on, the fridge makes an on-off noise that sounds like a low foghorn until the cycle is completed. For the price I would expect a quiet model. awkward interior spaces, nice for a small space

So far so good. The interior space is awkward to me- cheese drawer too small, top shelf just barely tall enough space for a standard Brita pitcher. But I like the deep door shelving and fruit and veg drawers. Freezer space also kind of awkward but still moving things around and getting used to it. May just remove spacers entirely. Solid machine and looks nice, not too shiny. I don't like the half moon ice cubes but not a dealbreaker- they serve their purpose. The top drawer in freezer does not slide smoothly- it doesn't have a good mechanism for that. Generally pleased and getting used to differences from our last one. It's a nice fridge for our limited space.

The size is just right for our kitchen and it has a nice look but it makes a humming noise from the freezer. It's so annoying! I want it fixed or I want a refund. When you open the freezer the noise is louder. A brand new appliance should not make any noise at all except for the sound of the ice falling into the tray. Very disappointed for close to $2,000.00

This fridge gets two stars because it keeps my food cold. Aside from that, it's a very loud fridge. It's got at least two distinct whining frequencies that drive me to major irritation. When everything else is relatively quiet, I can hear it from the floor above and I can hear it from the floor below. A decibel meter held near the thing meter reads between 75 dB. That's akin to city traffic.

Pros: It works, it cools. Keeps temp very consistent. I like the shelving on the doors as they hold a lot of odds and end bottles. Shelving spacing is good. Cons: Shelves bend in the middle if you put a 12 pack of soda on them, hopefully they don't break. It is a little noisy with vibration and it sometimes howls softly. If you are sensitive to sound then you may want to consider others.

I would give this refrigerator negative five stars if it was an option.I bought this refrigerator last August. It was freezing our produce in the refrigerator section almost immediately. We have had it repaired twice. Both times the repair fixed the problem, but only temporarily. Ge has not been very helpful. At this point, I am going to be buying a new refrigerator, and I'm hoping GE will at least help pay for it. If not I will never buy another GE product. I am 70 years old, and have never had a refrigerator that was less than 10 years old ruining my food. Awful product, lousy customer service so far.

This refrigerator makes the most annoying noice whenever it is running! I would never have bought this refrigerator if I had known.

I wish I could give this fridge no stars! The doors do not seal well and the freezer is constantly freezing up, full of frost. It runs continuously and is very loud. Definitely not an energy saver! I would advise everyone to steer clear of this unit.

I've had the fridge for two days and so far, so good! Lots of room in the refrigerator portion, much more than my last fridge, which was 24 years old. I can't find a single problem with this fridge, even though a lot of people online have complained about it being noisy. I have normal hearing and I don't think this fridge is noisy at all. Yes, when it cycles on you can hear it do so, but its not loud by any stretch of the imagination, and only lasts a few minutes at that. My house is probably quieter than most as I live alone and don't have a TV, so there is no ambient background noise always playing. My house is truly silent most of the time. Even in that quiet atmosphere, this fridge isn't loud at all.

Extended Warranty a MUST !

The unit is/was somewhat noisy. Went to the freezer this morning and the sausage had thawed. It is advisable to go ahead and purchase the extended warranty, as I am beyond the 1 year mark by 2 months. The repair person will be here Wednesday to evaluate. A 4 Star while it lasted.

A want-to-be average refridgerator. But not quite.

Less quality, for more price. Installed the fridge about 3-4 weeks ago. Right away the construction quality seems less than our previous 10 year old fridge. I doubt this one will last any longer - if that long. Pros: Exterior looks fine. Spacious inside. Decent interior lighting. Fit in our narrow space (the main reason for us buying this specific model). Cons: The doors do not close easily. There's a strange detent right before full closure for both the Fridge and freezer door/drawer. We're used to effortless door closing. This is not that. We are forever responding to the door alarms. Really annoying. It's LOUD compared to our old fridge. I can hear it from any part of our house. It's a combination of sounds, both low and (strangely) higher frequency. And it runs for very long periods of time. This is really disappointing. The Ice maker works, but is WICKED LOUD. Seemingly occasionally making noises even when the ice bucket is already full. FYI: The ice appears completely white and cloudy. Our previous fridge produced mostly clear ice. The temperature displays show only the set temperature, not the actual temperature of the fridge and freezer. This seems really cheap, borderline sleazy. It sure would be nice to know the actual temperature to confirm everything is operating as it should. I would not willingly buy this refrigerator model again.
